The Goose Crew provides summer removal of geese throughout Minnesota from mid-June to mid-July. We typically do removal at an average of 40-50 sites during this period. The summer removal is conducted when the adult geese are molting and the goslings or young geese have not reached flight stage. Adult geese (as with all waterfowl) lose their flight or wing feathers all at once and regrow new ones during this summer period called the molt.
We survey a customer’s site and schedule a removal date and time at the customer’s convenience. The Goose Crew arrives locates the geese, sets up a corral and catch pen, they then surround the geese on the water or land, and drive them carefully into the catch pen. Once in the catch pen the geese are removed and loaded into a specialized trailer to be transported to a goose holding facility.
The geese are cared for at the holding facility until they are processed. The adults are processed at a USDA processor when available and donated to local food shelves. The goslings and adults (if a USDA processor is not available) are donated to a non-profit education facility for use as animal food. Relocation of geese to other locations is not an option due the abundance of Canada geese across the state and nations.
The Goose Crew operates within the requirements of a Federal (US Fish and Wildlife Service) and State (Minnesota Department of Natural Resources) permits. The Goose Crew maintains high standards in the actual handling, care, transportation and holding of geese, along with the permit reporting requirements. We handle all permit requirements and reporting for our customers and are fully insured to meet city, state and private insurance requirements.

The Goose Crew provides nest searching and egg removal in an effective and humane manner. We locate and treat goose eggs and determine the age of development. This determination of development allows us to leave the eggs in the nest until the eggs reach a certain stage of development, at which time, we return and destroy the eggs. This process allows us to ensure the nesting pair reaches a period of nesting when egg destruction does not result in a re-nesting attempt, they will give up nesting for the year. This also reduces stress on the goose (female) that is known to attend infertile eggs well beyond the hatch date, which can cause the goose to become stressed to point of near starvation. These return trips also allow us to search for new nests throughout the nesting period.
We have found that egg removal may or may not improve summer goose problems, the Goose Crew can evaluate the location and advise customers if egg removal or summer removal would be more cost-effective approach.
